seasons
Spring - H 60* F / L 40-35* F
The season of new life is crisp and mild, often accompanied by heavy rains. Between the moderate amount of storms and the snow melt from the mountains, rivers will often rage and flood their banks, causing the plains around them to become marsh-like. The valleys roll with clouds and become saturated with fog in the mornings. Winds sweep down from the foothills in the evenings. The mountains are chilly and windy, leading those who live there to either descend to lower elevations or shelter in the expansive caves. Prey is plentiful and easy to find.
Summer - H 95-100* F / L 55* F
The summer tends to be warm due to the low elevation of the expansive valley. Heat becomes trapped on his low land between the mountains and doesn't vacate often. The winds have shifted and no longer roll down the mountains, making the plains stifling hot. If residents of the valley don't shelter in a rocky outcropping, they might enter the forest for relief from the heat. The thick trees block out the heat and create a cool, damp environment where prey will be plentiful. It will be more difficult to find on the plain because the small creatures will hide from the heat.
Fall - H 75-80* F / L 45* F
Vibrant colors are awakened in the land when Autumn arrives. The trees become red and gold and the temperatures become more mild. Cool breezes will return to the valley and frost may begin to appear on the ground and low plant life during the night as fall becomes late. Herds of deer will move through the land more frequently, seeking to find the last of the summer greenery before the weather becomes too cold.
Winter - H 35* F / L 5* F
Snow begins to coat the land in a light dusting, warning the beasts here of the impending freeze. Storms will accumulate at the mountain peaks and dump moderate quantities of snow in higher elevations. At night, the wind may bring snow-bearing clouds over the valley when it is cold enough to snow. As winter strengthens, snow will become more frequent. The plains will become a virtual tundra, hiding prey in their underground dens. The forest will be shielded from the drifts, although snow will permeate the canopy to the forest floor. Prey is harder to find but an occasional small herd of deer will pass through, having sheltered in the trees. Temperatures below freezing are recurring at night.
