Dire Wolf
The Dire wolf is a species after Eyva herself, made in her image when the first Seer was created. Today's Dire Wolf stems from the blood of Faron, although they have evolved from the Great Wolves of the Old times. They were giants once, but the farther the line descended from Faron, the smaller they became. However they are still comparatively large in relation to other varieties, and are powerful in stature. Generally these wolves have gold, green, or amber eyes. Their pelts come in a variety of colors, from hues of brown, to gray and black, to silver and white. However they are never solid black. They have defined saddle patterns on their backs. Some Dires may have abnormal markings, but the only such cases are brindling in the saddle or upper arm. Their upper canines are longer than normal and often extend past the lip line and can be visible. These wolves can exceed 200 pounds easily, but females will tend to be smaller. They can be up to 48" tall.
Lowland Wolf
This species is smaller than the average wolf, making them stealthy hunters, agile, and fleet of foot. They usually don't exceed 80 pounds and have longer limbs. They will be approximately 34" tall on average. The Lowland wolf can have gray, tan, or a timber-like pelt which can be dark or light. Anomalous wolves will be of solid color or have minimal areas of darker guard hairs, rather than saddles and banding on the head. Their eyes tend to be gold, gray, or blue.
Mountain Wolf
The mountain variety of wolves are large, muscular, and thick-boned. They can exceed 130 pounds easily and are much taller than their cousins in the flat of the valleys, standing up to 40" at the shoulder. Their paws are large to allow them better grip on the rocks of the mountains, and their tails are long for balance. Smaller ears are less likely to be damaged by cold, and their coats are generally thicker to combat the frigid temperatures. These wolves come in all colors, from white to black, and may have any color eyes: gold, amber, green, gray, brown, or blue.
